New volunteer leadership

Rich Henderson likes to help people. His recent election as President of Circle K is only the next step in his community service career. ''I just like helping people,'' Henderson said . Circle K club, which is an organization on campus involved in community service of all kinds, including Walk for Hunger, Habitat for Humanity and volunteering at the Bridgewater Senior Center.

Henderson also volunteers in other capacities on campus and through BSC programs. Henderson was one of twelve students who spent March 18-24 in Raleigh North Carolina demolishing and building homes for families who qualify as low income as part of Habitat for Humanity.

''It was amazing,'' Henderson said of his experience in Raleigh. ''[Demolition] was really hard because the materials were going to be re-used on other houses, so we had to be careful.''

Henderson is a peer educator for McADOC (Media Campaign Addressing Drugs on Campus) and a volunteer coordinator for the Jumpstart Program, a nation wide organization which pairs college students with learning disabled pre-school students in an effort to help the disabled children with basic literacy skills.

Circle K is open to anyone to join and meets every other Tuesday in RCC Room 202 at 7:00 p.m. Their next meeting is April 17 and all are welcome to join.
